The 700-square-mile Harding Ice Field is in the Kenai Mountains northeast of Seward, and includes most of Kenai Fjords National Park. It receives more than 400 inches of snow per year and is one of only four remaining icefields in the US, spawning some 40 glaciers. The first documented mountaineering group to cross the icefield did so only in 1968. I chartered a floatplane and copilot for this two-hour photo flight from Alaska Float Ratings in Moose Pass. This was the same airplane I had chartered in 2013, although it has been upgraded since that time.
